My

Architectural

Experience

Although I was unaware at the time, my journey into architecture began when I picked up a Lego brick for the first time. Creating functional spaces for little figures using my own creativity had me captivated for hours at a time. For someone who enjoyed both drawing and creating structures from Lego, a career in architecture seemed like the perfect fit for me, even if (at the time) I thought it was just drawing and playing with ‘big Lego’. I played Australian Rules Football for many years growing up, but it was my creative passions such as photography, guitar, woodworking, graphic design and other hands on projects that sustained my attention. These interests translated into my Bachelor degree, where I could apply my passions to projects at university whilst pairing them with my practical skills learnt from the advanced diploma and on-site experience.

As a student of architecture, I find myself drawn to organic design styles as well as classical architectural styles. I find interest in the timelessness and quality in the detail of classical buildings in times when architects were considered more than a designer but rather a master builder. My appeal to the more organic architectural styles come from a mentality that of working with the environment of a space and allowing the form to mould it’s way around the functions and surroundings.
